StepRack’s Biometric Key Management System – Accountability and Traceability
One of your organisation’s most important assets are keys, providing access to various parts of your premises including secure and hazardous areas, vehicles and machinery.
Our system ditches the old logbook method of key management and replaces it with a system that has full accountability and traceability of your organisation’s keys.
Keys are hard to manage and trace. They are usually behind the security desk where you must manually sign them out, but more likely in the manager’s office in a wall-mounted key-box.
When you consider an actual key is probably your organisation’s least expensive asset, but what they protect are usually your most precious.
Keys could be linked to medicine cabinets, vehicles, sensitive documentation, or even access to hazardous areas. If these get into the wrong hands, not only is it an expensive process to change all the locks, but it is also breaching security and safety standards.
Our system creates accountability and traceability your organisation needs to protect its assets.
StepRack’s system provides a full audit trail of who accessed the key, when that key was taken and when the key was always returned – keeping your staff accountable.
How it works

The IP Cameras are installed with time-stamped recording so the recorded video can be married-up and verified to those who had access at any given time.
The biometric access system scans pre-scanned fingerprints, similar to that of a modern mobile phone. Access will either be granted or declined, depending if your prints are recorded on the system.
The computer system keeps a detailed log of who accessed the system, which keys they took, and when they were returned.
Contained within the cabinet, there is a QR code reader that scans the QR integrated on the key-fob when being taken and being returned.
